Academic Advisor (SL3)

This title is in the unclassified service and in the SUNY Professional Services Negotiating Unit.

As a family, the academic advisement series provides support to students with respect to academic planning, program, and course selection. Incumbents aid students in interpreting academic rules and regulations, such as prerequisites or other course requirements.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: assisting students in academic planning related to the students' abilities and interests; conveying and interpreting the University's academic rules and regulations, academic prerequisites, programs, majors and courses of study; may work directly with faculty in various schools or departments to enhance the advisement process; may refer students to related offices (psychological counseling, career planning, etc.) as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications:

A Master's degree. Significant academic advising experience is required.
