Academic Advisement Assistant (SL2)

This title is in the unclassified service and in the SUNY Professional Services Negotiating Unit.

As a family, the academic advisement series provides support to students with respect to academic planning, program, and course selection. Incumbents aid students in interpreting academic rules and regulations, such as prerequisites or other course requirements.

Serves on the professional staff of a campus advisement office. Performs tasks similar to that of an academic advisor but under closer supervision, due to relative inexperience and a lack of familiarity with the full range of campus programs. Probably does not make independent advisement decisions on other than routine matters.

Preferred Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree. In addition, it is desirable that a candidate have a Master's degree in progress, with general experience in academic advisement or a related area.
