As a family, T.H. Administrative Support provides a broad range of professional support services to department heads or administrative officers within the University Hospital. Distinctions between classes are based on the complexity of support the incumbent provides, the difficulty of the work, the degree of supervision received, the degree of autonomy in decision-making, and educational/ experience requirements.
Responsible for the coordination, direction and administrative functions of the divisions or area typically on a 24 hour/day, 7 day/week basis. These duties include providing administrative support to all health care professionals responsible for the provision of patient care or support staff responsible for ensuring a quality patient environment. Incumbents are indirectly supervised, receiving their direction via stated goals from the department or unit head, and are responsible for meeting such goals. Typical duties include provision of on-site support in the absence of hospital administration on off-shifts and weekends, communication with the Administrator-On-Duty (AOD) on pertinent administrative issues that affect the hospital's operation (e.g., internal/external disasters, physical plant and patient care issues), and provision of follow-up reports when necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and at least three years experience in an administrative/ supervisory capacity or an Associate's degree with five years like experience. Master's degree with three years experience in an administrative/ supervisory capacity preferred. (Seven years experience would be equivalent).
