This title is in the unclassified service and in the SUNY Professional Services Negotiating Unit.
As a family, these positions function to instruct, guide and inform patients in high-risk pregnancies. The incumbents are responsible for designing, implementing and following policies.
In consultation with the Project Director, the incumbent in this position s responsible for individual patient evaluations to determine medical and scientific diagnosis of screening results; prepares a program of counseling for the individual patient which conforms to the diagnosis; recommends to physician and patient risk factors inherent in high risk pregnancies. Develops and participates in Genetic Counseling programs as a source of information to the contributing physician and may directly communicate and counsel patients on a one-on-one basis. Other duties include supervision of clinic support staff; screening and coordinating patient referrals; counseling clients on the risks and benefits associated with amniocentesis procedures and on the implementation of various lab results.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree and two years experience or BS and five years relevant experience.
