T.H. Clinical Technical Services Pulmonary Function Specialist (SL3)

 

This title is in the unclassified service and in the SUNY Professional Services Negotiating Unit.

Incuments of positions in this family are responsible for proficient pulmonary diagnostic testing. This requires an ability to understand complex instrumentation as related to patient needs, and to give instructions to patients and colleagues on the techniques of the testing, and finally to collate complex numbers at the end of the test to weave them into a coherent pulmonary function examination.

The technical specialist must possess the knowledge and experience to supervise, at a general and technical level, technicians in the performance of their duties. Performs administrative duties; i.e., prepares budget preparation and monitor appropriate expenditures. Evaluates, orders and receives all diagnostic testing equipment and supplies. Designs and implements Quality Assurance programs, and does appropriate performance evaluation and inservice education of all employees in the laboratory.

Preferred Qualification:

B.S. Degree. Six or more years experience to include a minimum of two years in a supervisory/administrative capacity.
