Application of the science of human behavior to persons with emotional or behavioral disorders to facilitate the normal growth and development of the individual.
Under supervisor's general direction, organizes own work, and applies specific knowledge in a specialized field or as a generalist in laboratory sections to perform technical procedures. Judgement is required for problem solving. May provide direct supervision to students and participates in training and staff development and occasionally student teaching. The Technologist's responsibility is generally limited to the literal interpretation of such policies, protocols, procedures and methodologies, deferring those decisions which fall outside of prescribed standards to senior staff members. Performs technical procedures in one of the following areas: Hematology, Chemistry/Microscopy, Blood Bank, Microbiology, Immunology or Cytogenetics.
AAS in Medical Technology and two years experience, or BS and zero to one year experience. ASCP or equivalent.
