T.H. Director of Medical Radiography (SL6)

 

This title is in the unclassified service and in the SUNY Professional Services Negotiating Unit. This title is in Appendix A of the SUNY Policies of the Board of Trustees and, as a consequence, incumbents serving in this title are not eligible for permanent appointment (tenure), but, instead receive five year renewable term appointments.

The overall responsibilities of the positions in the Radiography job family collectively are to provide radiographic support services to medical staff in the areas of Diagnostics, Ultrasound, CT Scanning, Special Procedures, Nuclear Medicine and Magnetic Resonance Imaging.

Overall responsibility for managing and planning for the efficient delivery of radiographic support services to support the hospital's delivery of health care which requires special knowledge of the services provided in each functional area. Responsibilities include overseeing the preparation of all service and supply contracts, as well as general supply inventory maintenance; oversees coordinating with the Radiation Physics Laboratory on matters of safety; responsible for maintaining collaborative communications between administration and clinical areas; oversees records maintenance, training programs, and instructional support for medical staff. Oversees staff maintenance, preparation and monitoring of department quality assurance programs, formulation of departmental policies and procedures, departmental inter-hospital committee representation, planning and development, special projects, surveys, etc., and the maintenance of Radiography patient service areas. The incumbent works independently in maintaining policies and procedures**, establishing, monitoring and evaluating goals, and supervises subordinate supervisors.

Preferred Qualifications:

BS, NYS license and AART registry, and six years experience to include three years of management and supervisory experience.
