The incumbents in positions in this family provide patient care to burn victims and is involved in the logistics, technical and psychic aspects of burn wound care.
Under the consultative direction of the Burn Unit Director, coordinates the daily burn care activities as they relate to the inpatients, to include coordination of the general nursing staff, members of the burn team (i.e., Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy departments), and the patient's family. Changes wound dressings to include debridgement. Applies biologic dressings in the form of homograph, amnion or pigskin; applies bandages or splints. The Burn Care Technician must be continually sensitive to the patient's pain and interacts constructively with the members of the burn-care team; assists surgeons in the operating room and prepares homograph skin and amnion tissue banking; continuously collects, records and maintains physiologic data and unit records; provides instruction to medical staff, residents and students in the logistic, technical and psychic aspects of burn wound care.
Preferred Qualification:
Associate's Degree in related field, licensed Registered Nurse. Minimum three years of burn-wound care experience.
