As a family, Biomedical Engineering positions are responsible for the investigation and design, development and construction of not readily available biomedical instrumentation, make special Biomedical equipment purchases, repairs, preparation, and maintenance of electronic devices used in specialty areas (Radiology, Clinical Pathology, Respiratory Therapy, Dialysis, etc.) in support of the delivery of quality patient care and research.
Troubleshoots medical instrumentation to the component level and has mastery of the servicing of at least five complex electronic or electro-mechanical devices such as intra-aortic balloon pumps, physiological units. The Senior BMET instructs BMETs and other Senior BMETs in service and repair procedures; instructs clinical staff on proper application of medical devices; and performs preventative maintenance and inspection as directed by the Biomedical Engineering Service Manager. The Senior BMET may serve as lead technician in the absence of the Service Manager.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate's Degree in Biomedical Engineering Technology or Electrical Engineering Technology and two years experience in medical equipment servicing required. Basic understanding of human physiology and cardiovascular dynamics required.
