T.H. Associate Director of Radiation Therapy (SL5)

 

This title is in the unclassified service and in the SUNY Professional Services Negotiating Unit.

As a family the positions in this group are responsible for the delivery of radiation therapy to patients as prescribed and under the regulations of the National Cancer Institute. Incumbents must have in-depth knowledge of high-voltage, state-of-the-art radiation therapy equipment with safety standards and to properly maintain same.

The Associate Director is responsible for the overall operation of the treatment area, which now includes supervision of all radiation therapy technology staff, supervision of all radiation therapy students, scheduling of daily work assignments for students and technologists. The responsibilities also include the preparation and submission of all daily, weekly, monthly and annual reports to the Chairman of the department. The statistics contained in this report may significantly impact upon patient care, and significant hospital revenues. Orders major patient treatment related equipment and materials. Responsible for informal meetings with these staff members and formal evaluations of their performance. Attends national meetings to assure continued maintenance of the overall current state-of-the-art for radiation therapy technology. May be responsible for recruitment of radiation therapy technology staff, coordination of treatment plan with Dosimetrists, coordination of machine repair with service engineer; continuing education in-service and educational programs for research and technical students. Ensures adherence to established safety standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

BS Degree -- alternatively AAS or AMA approved two year certificate program for Radiation Therapy Technology. RRT, NYS license, minimum of seven years with minimum of two years in a supervisory/administrative capacity. BS preferred.
