This title is in the unclassified service and in the SUNY Professional Services Negotiating Unit.
As a job family, Physical Therapists work closely with other members of the health care team, patients and their families, to plan the evaluation and treatment of the patient's needs and to develop and administer programs aimed at strengthening the body.
Assists the Director in the day-to-day management planning and organization of the hospital Physical Therapy department. Supervises and directs all Physical Therapy staff and volunteers; assists the Director by coordinating and supervising the inpatient and/or outpatient care programs; orients new staff; assists with performance evaluations. May serve as Coordinator of departmental educational programs and rounds. Organizes and participates in teaching programs, acts as a liaison with physicians and other medical staff; participates in hospital committees; schedules and assigns patients; acts for the Director in his/her absence. Works independently in conjunction with Director's goals.
Preferred Qualifications:
BS in Physical Therapy, NYS license, four years of experience to include one year in an administrative/supervisory capacity. MS in Physical Therapy, NYS license and four years experience to include one year in an administrative/supervisory capacity.
