Cyber Security and Intelligence Analysis Research
- The Griffiss Institute for Information Assurance brings together information technology
experts from eight affiliated SUNY campuses, government, and business to collaborate on innovative ideas, from
artificial immune systems for communications systems to techniques that will identify break-ins before damage is
done to a computer.
- The Center for Information Assurance and Forensics (CIFA), where SUNY researchers are developing
new models for education in cyber security and computer forensics, will emulate a teaching and research hospital
where educational cases based on real problems can provide learning opportunities for students and practitioners.
- SUNY researchers working at the Center for Cyber Security at Stony Brook University, recently
designated along with University at Buffalo as Centers of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education
by the National Security Agency, are developing a comprehensive suite of techniques aimed at proactive cyber
security.
- Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Defense and European Commission, researchers at the University at Albany's
Institute for Informatics, Logics, and Security Studies are developing advanced
information-retrieval systems that will allow intelligence analysts to quickly sift through an enormous number of
news and field reports, enabling them to better comprehend terrorist behavior and develop effective
counter-measures.
