Resolution in Support of Chancellor King
BE IT RESOLVED, that the University Faculty Senate expresses its strong support for Chancellor King's leadership of our university and, be it
Further Resolved, that the Senate acknowledges Chancellor King's ongoing willingness to work directly with the Senate and with its president; and, be it
Further Resolved, that the Senate endorses Chancellor King's vision of excellence for our university, aligning resources available to him to enable our university to move forward in the front ranks of higher education; and, be it
Further Resolved, that the Senate applauds the results of Chancellor King's leadership, such as increased enrollment System-wide; greater selectivity in admissions, where appropriate, in each sector; wider areas of faculty research; and an increase in philanthropic giving over 1 billion dollars to the University; and, be it
Further Resolved, that the Senate rejects unspecified charges against Chancellor King from anonymous sources appearing in newspapers and other media in early 2005, and that the Senate reasserts its support for our colleague, Robert King, a strong, effective leader and advocate for the concerns of all members of our university community.

Resolution on Only One Chancellor's Award Can Be Awarded to a Faculty Member Every 10 Years
Whereas, the Chancellor's Award is given for outstanding service over a considerable period of time; and
Whereas, the Chancellor's Awards for Excellence are recognitions for superior performance in the same areas as the Distinguished Faculty Rank; and
Whereas, such recognition brings with it a lasting honor; and
Whereas, awards should be used to recognize as many deserving faculty as possible; therefore
Be It Resolved, that a faculty member seeking a second Chancellor's Award must wait at least 10 years before doing so.

Resolution Restricting Multiple Designations for Distinguished Faculty Rank
Whereas, appointment to Distinguished Faculty Rank (Distinguished Librarian, Distinguished Professor, Distinguished Service Professor and Distinguished Teaching Professor) constitutes a promotion to a rank above that of full professor:
Whereas, appointment to a second designation of Distinguished Faculty Rank would constitute a promotion to the same rank as that currently held and conveyed in the original appointment; and
Whereas, such distinctions are rare and should be utilized to recognize as many deserving faculty as possible,
Be It Resolved, that once appointment to Distinguished Faculty Rank is conferred, regardless of designation, no future appointment to other designations of Distinguished Faculty Rank will be permitted thereby restricting the conferral of multiple designations of this rank.

Resolution on Revising Eligibility for Chancellor's Awards for Excellence
Whereas, appointment to Distinguished Faculty Rank is a promotion to the State University of New York's highest academic rank based on the highest level of accomplishment; and
Whereas, the Chancellor's Awards for Excellence are recognitions for superior performance in the same areas as the Distinguished Faculty Rank; and
Whereas, many of the faculty appointed to Distinguished Faculty Rank had, prior to their appointment, been selected as a Chancellor's Award for Excellence recipient; and
Whereas, the Chancellor's Awards for Excellence should be utilized to recognize deserving faculty not yet eligible for Distinguished Faculty Rank;
Be It Resolved, that the eligibility criteria for each of the Chancellor's Awards for Excellence be revised to preclude the nomination for a Chancellor's Award for Excellence of any faculty member already holding Distinguished Faculty Rank in the same area.

Resolution on Fulltime Tenure Track and non-Tenured Faculty
Whereas, all sectors reported concern at the declining ratio of full-time tenure track faculty to non-tenure track and adjunct faculty, and
Whereas, this declining ratio affects the quality of education, including the availability of academic advising for students, and
Whereas, this declining ratio affects the numbers of faculty available to take campus departmental and leadership positions, and
Whereas, advisement and continued contact with full-time faculty directly affects graduation and retention rates,
Be It Resolved, that
- The University Faculty Senate request that campuses be encouraged to develop target ratios of Full-Time Tenure Track faculty to non-Tenure Track adjunct faculty.
- Development of these ratios be part of the Mission Review II process and be reflected in the MOUs. and,
- Each MOU should include a timetable for achieving the ratio.

Resolution for Composition of Campus Visitation Teams
Be it Resolved,that the campus visitation team for Mission Review II include the campus's University Faculty Senator(s) and the campus's governance chair, or designees, among the campus group officially consulted for Mission Review II.
