Emergency Information
Check this page regularly for updates to SUNY Plaza employees regarding Hurricane Irene and its effects.
Update #4 - We are open today, Tuesday, Aug. 30.
Update #3 - We continue to anticipate being open tomorrow morning. While System Administration’s emergency response team is currently managing water infiltration into the Plaza and Federal buildings, it is unlikely that this will cause any interruption to business services.
However, if this situation does change during the night when the Hudson River crests, we will again notify all staff via e-mail and the SUNY website. You may also be contacted by your supervisor.
Update #2 - We are directing a prompt dismissal of all SUNY Plaza employees due to potential flooding of surrounding areas.
There is NO immediate danger; however, we are issuing this early dismissal now so that it may occur in a calm and orderly fashion.
The Governor's Office of Employee Relations has approved this dismissal and, therefore, no time will need to be charged.
If you choose to leave your car in the garage, you may NOT leave it on the first floor.
We anticipate being open tomorrow morning. To confirm that status, please check your e-mail at https://outlook.suny.edu ; the SUNY website at http://www.suny.edu ; and be in touch with your supervisor for further instructions.
Update #1 - Governor Cuomo today convened an emergency session of his Cabinet to review plans to protect New Yorkers and mitigate the potential effects of Hurricane Irene. To learn more about the actions being taken by New York State to prepare for the storm, please visit http://www.governor.ny.gov/press/082611hurricaneirenecabinetmeeting.
Based on the anticipated impact of the storm on the Capital District area, it is not expected that SUNY Plaza will be impacted. As a result, employees who are scheduled to work this weekend should report as usual. If the situation changes, updates will be distributed both via e-mail and posted online at SUNY.edu.
