Compliance Administrator
Nedra Abbruzzese-Werling, Compliance Administrator and Special Assistant to the Senior Vice Chancellor Nedra joined System Administration on March 1, 2012 as the Compliance Administrator and Special Assistant to the Senior Vice Chancellor and General Counsel. Her duties are to establish, coordinate and maintain a University-wide Compliance Resource Center, to catalog legislative and regulatory compliance requirements, systems and experts that exist at various campuses and levels across the University, and to update and maintain the substantive aspects of the University-wide policies and procedures web page, http://www.suny.edu/sunypp/, in coordination with Senior Management and Information Technology staff. Steering Committee Roles
- The Committee shall consist of nine members representing offices including, General Counsel, Audit, University Controller, Health Affairs, Employee Relations, Student Affairs, Environmental Health and Safety, and Information Security which have responsibilities and expertise with respect to the major compliance requirements applicable to higher education
- The Committee shall meet at least 4 times per year to review the SUNY Compliance Program
- Develop and periodically review the SUNY Compliance Plan and recommend compliance program structures
- Coordinate SUNY compliance efforts by identifying areas, inventorying existing programs and best practices and facilitating communication among campuses and System Administration
- Prioritize compliance risks through a risk assessment process
- Identify compliance areas and inventory existing efforts and gaps
- Make recommendations to address gaps and correct deficiencies
- Oversee dissemination of compliance information and policies to the SUNY community
- Create Compliance Area Work Groups composed of area experts
- Report findings to the Chancellor’s Executive Committee/Senior Vice Chancellors and the Audit Committee
- Help prioritize compliance tasks of Compliance Administrator
- Monitor investigations, audits, and other publications to identify emerging compliance issues at SUNY as well as other universities and communicate these issues to the campuses
