Congratulations! Below is everything you need to know about the Chancellors Awards for Student Excellence and the awards ceremony and reception.  If questions still remain, feel free to contact Lisa Kelsey via email at Lisa.Kelsey@suny.edu or phone at 518.320.1305.  We look forward to meeting you on Thursday, April 4, 2013 for the ceremony!

Nomination to Notification

Once your nomination was sent to the State University of New York System Administration, a selection committee reviewed your nomination. Committee members included campus staff, students, and System Administration staff. The selection committee met and reviewed all of the applications to ensure the highest standards of achievement.

Once the award recipients were selected, a letter was sent out informing the nominees if they will or will not received the award. Nominees with a permanent residence in the United States will receive their letter at that address, while nominees with a permanent residence outside of the United States will receive their letter at their local, campus address.

Nuts and Bolts for the Ceremony & Reception

Why is it important to attend the ceremony and reception?
Most importantly attending the Ceremony and Reception allows you to be recognized for all of your many accomplishments. Also, at the ceremony you will receive your medallion and award certificate, as well as having your picture taken with the Chancellor and a campus representative (in most cases the campus president).

Who can attend?
You are encouraged to invite up to four people to attend the ceremony. These people might be family, friends, professors, or mentors who have helped you to achieve your accomplishments. In order to RSVP, you need to fill out the form by Friday, March 22, 2013, via http://fs21.formsite.com/UniversityLife/CASE2013.

Where and when do I need to be on April 4th?
The Ceremony and Reception takes place on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center in Albany, New York.  The event starts at 2:30 p.m.; however, we ask that you arrive no later than 1:30 p.m. Please leave your coats, purses and/or other belongs with your guests or at the coat check prior to signing in at the separate student room, meeting room #2. There you will receive further instructions about the event.

What should I wear?
Appropriate attire might be similar to the outfit you wore or are planning to wear to graduation or a job interview.

Want to tell us why SUNY makes college worth it?
For recipients who are interested, the State University will be creating a SUNY makes college worth it because…video. The video will be created before the ceremony during the sign in time to be shown at the end of the ceremony. Basically, you would say, “SUNY makes college worth it because…” and fill in the blank with a statement like “… I learned from the leading professors in my field of study” or “… I graduate in May and I already have a job.” Come ready with your best statement!

What if I arrive late?
Of course you are not planning on arriving late, however these things happen. The late check-in is on the top tier in the conversation center located in the far back on the right side. There will be someone at a table that will check you in and give you additional directions.

I am attending the PTK Luncheon prior to the ceremony, what should I know with regards to the ceremony?
An email will be sent directly to you the week of the ceremony with additional information.

What if I cannot attend the ceremony & reception?
Please make sure if you are not attending that you still RSVP via http://fs21.formsite.com/UniversityLife/CASE2013 by Friday, March 22, 2013.  Also, your certificate and medallion will be sent to your campus.

Who do I contact with questions?
