Information for Guests
The Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence is an amazing accomplishment, one that could not be achieved without your support. Students are encouraged to invite up to four people to attend the ceremony, people who have helped them to achieve this prestigious award.
Questions & Answers
How are recipients selected? Each campus is different but many campuses set up a committee to review nominations for the award. Campuses then send their nominations to the State University of New York System Administration, where a selection committee reviews all nominations using a rubric. Selection committee members included campus staff, students and system administration staff.
How was the recipient notified? Once the award recipients are selected, a letter is sent out informing the nominees if they have or have not received the award. Nominees with a permanent residence in the United States will receive their letter at that address, while nominees with a permanent residence outside of the United States will receive their letter at their local, campus address.
Does the recipient need to inform anyone that I will be attending? Yes, the recipients need RSVP via http://fs21.formsite.com/UniversityLife/CASE2013 no later than Friday, March 22, 2013.
Where and when do I need to be on April 4th? The Ceremony and Reception takes place on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center in Albany, New York. It is important that the recipients leave their coats, purses and/or other belongs with you or at the coat check prior to signing in a separate student only room. The event starts at 2:30 p.m.; however, we ask that guests be seated at 2:00 p.m. There are designated seats for the award recipients and campus presidents or designees; all other seating is open for guests.
Will I be able to take photos during the event? You will be allowed to take photos during the event. Also, a professional photographer will be capturing the moment.
What if the recipient cannot attend the ceremony & reception? If the recipient does not attend, then his/her certificate and medallion will be sent to their campus.
Who do I contact with questions? You can either email Lisa.Kelsey or call 518.320.1305 with any questions.
