Distinguished Citizen Award Winners
On September 24, 1980, the SUNY Board of Trustees approved the establishment of a Distinguished Citizen Award Program whereby the Board of Trustees would honor citizens of New York State who exemplify the highest standards of public service and the Chancellor requested to develop guidelines for the implementation of this program. The first such award was given in April 1981.
