Launch of New SUNY Strategic Plan

When:              Thursday April 22, 2010 - The event runs from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. and is open to the press. The Chancellor can be made available to the media immediately following her presentation. 

Why:                The unifying theme of the strategic planning process is SUNY’s capacity to be a catalyst for the economic revitalization of the State of New York and to improve the quality of life for its citizens.

The product of an unprecedented 10-month effort which included a 64-campus tour and 10 statewide conversations and symposia across the New York, The Power of SUNY explores the many issues affecting New York State and the State University community, while identifying six “big ideas”:

  • ·         SUNY and the Seamless Educational Pipeline
  • ·         SUNY and a Healthier New York
  • ·         SUNY and an Energy-Smart New York
  • ·         SUNY and the Vibrant Community
  • ·         SUNY and the World 

The ambitious Strategic Plan will guide SUNY for the next five years and advise SUNY in its development for the next decade. SUNY’s planning process is the largest effort of its type in the nation and unprecedented in its collaboration, transparency and outward focus.
