Final Strategic Planning Conversation Marks Beginning of Next PhaseContact: David Belsky, David.Belsky@suny.eduOffice of Communications For Immediate Release: Wednesday, Mar. 17, 2010 Albany – State University of New York Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher will convene the eighth and final strategic planning statewide conversation this Thursday, Mar. 18, 2010 at the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering at the University at Albany. The gathering will serve as both a capstone event for phase II of the strategic planning process as well as address the topic of health affairs which was slated for the snowed-out conversation scheduled to take place in Syracuse on Feb. 25, 2010. Keynote speaker at the event will be Bill Novelli, distinguished professor, McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University, and former CEO, AARP. Novelli created the concept of “social marketing” and has applied the concept to both a successful advertising firm as founding partner of Porter Novelli, and then to public service, spending time as executive vice president of CARE, the world's largest private relief and development organization and as president of the Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids. Following Novelli will be a panel of experts in health affairs, listed in the agenda found below. The second half of the day will be devoted to the capstone event, where the “Group of 200,” stakeholders that have been participating in the series of conversations throughout the state, will see a preview of where the plan is headed in addition to an update on SUNY’s rebranding efforts. Details regarding phase III, the launch of the strategic plan, will be available in the near future.
