Innovation America Roundtable, Community Colleges as Engines of
 Innovation

Interim SUNY Chancellor Dr. John B. Clark joined the governor and Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano at Borough of Manhattan Community College June 28, 2007, for the Innovation America Roundtable, Community Colleges as Engines of Innovation.

The roundtable was sponsored by the National Governors Association and New York State. Governor Napolitano is the current chair of the NGA.

Governor Spitzer moderated the discussion among SUNY and CUNY community college presidents and members of the governor's commission on higher education. The lively conversation touched on graduation rates, workforce training, transferring to baccalaureate and doctoral granting institutions, the relationship between primary, secondary and higher education and many other areas.

In addition to Interim Chancellor Clark, SUNY was represented by Joyce Brown, president of the Fashion Institute of Technology, Nassau Community College President Sean Fanelli, Sullivan County Community College President Mamie Golladay, Rockland Community College President Cliff Wood and SUNY Vice Chancellor for Community Colleges Dennis Golladay.
