Welcome to the State University of New York's Online Art Gallery.
The visual arts have long been a major component of SUNY's curriculum, reflecting New York State's strong support of the arts. In 2002, to highlight the work of SUNY's many talented student artists and art faculty, The State University of New York initiated a series of art exhibits at the State University Plaza in Albany.
Today, the work of SUNY's best student artists lines the main concourse of the historic State University Plaza year round. The work of our gifted art faculty is featured in smaller, single-campus exhibits in the Plaza Gallery. As the scholarly hub of the University, and with its spacious concourse and gothic architecture, State University Plaza is an ideal location both to exhibit and view art.
Now on view at the Online Art Gallery are works selected for online viewing by a panel of artists and educators from a number of recent student and faculty shows, dating back to 2004.
The images here are part of the Online Art Gallery's "permanent" collection, providing a rich visual record of the art and art education that enlivens the State University of New York.
