Institute for International Business: SUNY New Paltz - Instituto Tecnologico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM) and Universidad de las Americas (UDLA)

Education: SUNY Fredonia - Universidad Autonoma Benito Juarez de Oaxaca (UABJO)
In May 2006, Rector Francisco Martínez Neri of the State University "Benito Juarez" of Oaxaca visited President Denis Hefner of SUNY Fredonia where they signed an agreement of cooperation. The two institutions will continue to exchange faculty and the Fredonia campus will continue to enlist the assistance of their Oaxaca partner to work with the local schools in the creation of programs for immigrant children from that Mexican state. Special program initiatives include in-service training for TESOL and other teachers in the Dunkirk City Schools and cultural programs to raise awareness in the Fredonia area of the rich cultural heritage of indigenous Mexican immigrant groups, especially those of Mixtec origin.

TESOL Master's for In-Service Mexican English Teachers
The New Paltz campus is working with the Mexican Ministry of Education to provide an opportunity for in-service Mexican English teachers to earn a Master's degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). Most of these teachers have extensive family obligations, thus the New Paltz campus is proposing a high caliber academic program that reduces the time students need to reside in New York State. The proposed structure for the program combines distance teaching methods and travel of New Paltz faculty with actual on-campus residential time for satisfactory completion of a 36-credit graduate degree in fifteen months. The first cohort of 10-20 students is anticipated in September 2006.
