Center for International Development (CID)

The Office of International Programs works alongside the State University's Center for International Development (CID) to expand SUNY's reach around the globe, and to create useful and innovative initiatives and partnerships with international institutions, organizations and governments.

The Center for International Development is a demonstrated leader in the field of international development and, since its inception in 1986, has designed and implemented more then $140 million in international development projects on four continents.

CID assists legislatures, local governments and court systems in functioning more effectively, and helps citizen groups and non-governmental organizations interact more successfully with governments.

Through its programs focused on democracy and governance, environmental policy and economic development, CID enables international partners to obtain the skills and knowledge necessary to prioritize and solve development problems and implement changes within their own countries.

As the Center for International Development works to bridge the gap between the theory and practice of international development, it joins the Office of International Programs in its educational mission, offering State University faculty and students specialized research and learning opportunities and providing them with access to overseas internships, conferences and publications.
