State Relations Update - October 29, 2009

Deficit Reduction Plan Hearings - Both the Assembly and Senate Majorities have been conducting public hearings on the Governor's proposed Deficit Reduction Plan.  The Senate has two hearings pending at this time - November 2nd in Williamsville and November 5th in Elmsford.  Selective testimony of interest from previous hearings:

Special Session - The Governor is planning on calling for a special session on 11/10 to engage the Legislature in addressing his Deficit Reduction Plan. 
Governor's Statement

Comptroller's EOP Audit - The Office of State Comptroller recently issued a follow-up to a 2007 audit of SUNY's EOP program which concluded that all their audit recommendations had been implemented.

Non-Resident Tuition - David Shaffer of the Rockefeller Institute recently penned the following relating to the debate on increasing out-of-state tuition for SUNY and the revenue generated. Shaffer Column
