State Relations Update - September 18, 2009

Laws and Vetoes - The Governor recently acted upon several measures that are of interest to SUNY.  View our updated summary and the Governor's press release on his most recent legislative actions

Strategic Plan - Chancellor Zimpher presented her initial outline for the SUNY strategic plan at this week's Board of Trustees meeting.  Work will begin in earnest on this in the upcoming weeks.  View the Chancellor's Presentation

Assembly Hearing - The Assembly Higher Education Committee will be conducting a public hearing on the newly created New York Higher Education Loan Program (NYHELPs). Testimony is by invitation only.

Possible Legislative Changes - Mike Miller was elected in the Democrat primary for the seat in the 38th Assembly District which was vacated due to the resignation of Anthony Seminerio.  Also, Assemblyman Mark Weprin, a 15 year veteran and SUNY Albany alumni, won his Democrat primary for a seat on the NYC Council representing District 23 in Queens.
