Federal Stimulus WatchOn February 17, 2010, the one-year anniversary of passage of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, SUNY has received awards that total more than $109.7 million. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) includes funding for many federal agency programs that support college and university activities, particularly in the areas of infrastructure and instrumentation; education and training; and research. New ARRA competitive funding opportunities are still being announced regularly by the federal government and we will continue to post information about these grant opportunities as information becomes available. We will also continue to share information about ARRA awards to SUNY campuses across the State of New York. On Tuesday, November 17, 2009, the State University of New York (SUNY) announced that it has received 312 awards totaling more than $95 million under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). On Friday, February 12, 2010, the US Department of Labor announced that Hudson Valley Community College and Fulton Montgomery Community College received grants totaling $6,247,857 from the for job training in health care, biotechnology, and biomanufacturing. The funding comes from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) and is part of the DOL Health Care Sector and Other High Growth and Emerging Industries Grant Program. It is estimated that, combined, the grants could generate more than 600 jobs in health care and biotechnology industries in the Capital Region.
