Nassau Community College

Since it opened in 1960 with 632 students in a wing of the Nassau County Court House, Nassau Community College has provided for its students an education that enjoys a nationwide reputation for academic excellence and ease of transferability to four-year schools. Today, our 21,000 students study in more than 60 academic programs on a 225-acre campus of more than 30 buildings that blends modern architecture with picturesque older structures.

Nassau is the largest single campus community college in the SUNY system and ranks third in the number of degrees awarded annually by two-year colleges in the U.S. Nassau’s students reflect the rich diversity of the suburban county in which it is centrally located.

Extracurricular programs include regionally and nationally ranked men’s and women’s intercollegiate athletic teams and a rich tapestry of more than 50 clubs and organizations including an FM radio station, television studio, student newspaper, yearbook, literary magazine, and a variety of cultural, religious, political and academic interest groups.

Nassau’s full-time faculty include many recipients of the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Teaching Excellence, Fulbright Scholars, authors, artists, consultants, and leaders in business, scientific research, and community services. The Middle States Association’s Commission on Higher Education referred to Nassau’s faculty as “perhaps without rival among community colleges in the nation.” Small classes taught by a distinguished faculty dedicated to the teaching process make Nassau an excellent educational value.
