Shineman Center for Science, Engineering and Innovation – State University of New York College at Oswego Action Requested The proposed resolution approves the action of the Oswego College Council on November 30, 2012 in naming the science, engineering and innovation corridor at the College at Oswego the “Richard S. Shineman Center for Science, Engineering and Innovation.” Resolution I recommend that the Board of Trustees adopt the following resolution: Resolved that the action of the Oswego College Council in naming the science, engineering and innovation corridor at the College at Oswego the “Richard S. Shineman Center for Science, Engineering and Innovation” be, and hereby is, approved. Background The proposed resolution approves the action of the Oswego College Council in naming the science, engineering and innovation corridor at the College at Oswego the “Richard S. Shineman Center for Science, Engineering and Innovation.” The Council’s action was taken in recognition of a $5,000,000 gift from Dr. Barbara Shineman and the Richard S. Shineman Foundation to establish an endowed fund to support the educational and cultural mission of SUNY Oswego. Dr. Barbara Shineman graduated from SUNY Oswego with a B.S. in Childhood Education in 1965 and received her Masters degree in Reading Education in 1971. Dr. Shineman has held numerous volunteer leadership positions at SUNY Oswego and is currently a member of the Foundation Board.
