Zimpher, Chancellor SUBJECT: Naming of Frey Hall – State University of New York University at Stony Brook Action Requested The proposed resolution approves the action of the Stony Brook Council on October 9, 2012 in naming the old chemistry building at State University of New York University at Stony Brook the “Frey Hall.” Resolution I recommend that the Board of Trustees adopt the following resolution: Resolved that the action of the Stony Brook Council in naming the old chemistry building at the State University of New York University at Stony Brook the “Frey Hall” be, and hereby is, approved. Background The proposed resolution approves the action of the Stony Brook Council on October 9, 2012 in naming the old chemistry building at State University of New York University at Stony Brook the “Frey Hall.” The Council’s action was taken in recognition of Dr. Robert Frey’s $3,300,000 in gifts to date. Dr. Robert Frey received two Stony Brook degrees: a B.S. in 1981 and a Ph.D. in 1987. He has served in several volunteer leadership positions, and previously as an assistant, adjunct and research professor.
