The Communications and External Affairs Committee of the Board of Trustees of the State University of New York held a meeting on July 23, 2012 at the College of Optometry. 

Committee Members Present:

The Communications and External Affairs Committee meeting was called to order by Trustee Carl Spielvogel at 1:00 p.m.

• Mr. Spielvogel made a motion to accept the minutes from the May Committee Meeting. The motion was carried. 

• Mr. Leventhal gave a presentation about SUNY’s International Student Recruitment Strategy. He introduced Krista Northup, Director of International Recruitment & Agency Operations for SUNY and spoke specifically on the use of agents.

• Mr. Spielvogel led a discussion on a policy for system employees regarding their interaction with the press. It was generally agreed upon that the Chancellor would issue a memo to all staff reminding them to direct such inquiries through the Office of Communications.

• Meeting adjourned.
