Zimpher, Chancellor Subject: Commendation of 175th Anniversary of the Founding of the State University of New York College at Brockport Action Requested The proposed resolution commends the 175th anniversary of the founding of the State University of New York College at Brockport. Resolution I recommend that the Board of Trustees adopt the following resolution: Whereas the academic year 2010-2011 marks the 175th anniversary of the founding of the State University of New York College at Brockport, and Whereas the College, throughout its long history, has made teacher education a strength and priority, and Whereas the College joined 31 other institutions in 1948 to form the State University of New York system, and Whereas the College hosted the International Special Olympics on its campus in 1979, and Whereas the College has become known nationally and internationally for programs of distinction in Math and the Sciences, Dance, Business, and Kinesiology, Sport Studies, and Physical Education, and Whereas the College currently educates more than 8,500 students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and has more than 72,000 alumni, and Whereas the College’s fundamental statement of work is its promise to reveal to each student each day his or her capacity for intellectual, physical, and creative accomplishment so that they may accomplish their dreams, and Whereas the College pledges to continue focusing on student success as its highest priority with its already growing academic profile and reputation across the State and nationally, now, therefore, be it Resolved the State University of New York Board of Trustees on this tenth day of May, 2011, congratulates the State University of New York College at Brockport on its history of educating students who become productive members of our society and engaged citizens of the world.
