SUBJECT:	Awarding of Honorary Degrees


Action Requested

The proposed resolution approves the awarding of honorary degrees.
Resolution

	I recommend that the Board of Trustees adopt the following resolution:

Resolved that the candidates for Honorary Degrees set forth in a listing which has been filed with the Secretary of the University under date of March 8, 2013 be, and hereby are, approved for conferral of such degrees, in accordance with the Guidelines for the Awarding of Honorary Degrees, as last amended July, 2010.

Background

	At its December 17, 2012 meeting, the SUNY Trustees’ Executive Committee considered a list of candidates for Honorary Degrees to be conferred in 2013, 2014 or 2015.  Having now received acceptances from some of the candidates, it is appropriate for the Board to give formal approval for conferral of the degrees.  As additional acceptances are received from any remaining candidates, those names will be brought before the Board for formal action.
