SUBJECT:	Appointment of Valerie B. Nixon as Interim President of the State University of New York College at Alfred
Action Requested
      The proposed resolution appoints Valerie B. Nixon as Interim President of the State University of New York at Alfred.

Resolution

	I recommend that the Board of Trustees adopt the following resolution:

Resolved that the appointment of Valerie B. Nixon as Interim President of the State University of New York at Alfred, at a salary of $170,000, effective April 1, 2013, be, and hereby is, approved.  This appointment will continue until the Board of Trustees, by resolution, appoints a successor.

Background

	I recommend that Valerie B. Nixon be appointed Interim President of the State University of New York at Alfred.

	Valerie B. Nixon has served in various positions at the State University of New York at Alfred since 1987, and most recently, since July 2012, as Executive Vice President.  Between July 2008 and July 2012, Ms. Nixon served as Vice President for Administration and Enrollment.  She served previously as Vice President for Enrollment Management, Director of Student Financial Services and Director of Financial Aid.  Other higher education experience includes positions at Alfred University, Rochester Institute of Technology, and the State University of New York College at Brockport.
