Minutes of a Meeting of the
Ad Hoc Committee on Personnel and Salary Plan Review
of the Board of Trustees
of the State University of New York
held on September 20, 2011


Pursuant to notice of meeting duly given on September 7, 2011, the Ad Hoc Committee on Personnel and Salary Plan Review Committee of the Board of Trustees of the State University of New York, met at the State University of New York, SUNY Plaza, Front Courtroom, Albany, NY and via video at Plattsburgh at 3:00 p.m. on September 20, 2011.

Members present:	Trustees Murad (Chair), Ehrenberg and Warren-Merrick

Trustee present	Trustee Hunt (Plattsburgh)

Also present:	Chairman Hayden, Trustees Staller and Beachner , Mr. Howard, Mr. Lloyd, Provost Lavallee

      Chair Murad convened the meeting at 3:14 p.m. and asked for a roll call.   The purpose of the meeting was to discuss personnel issues as well as the periodic updated salary plan.  
      
      Trustee Murad inquired on the proposed salary plan and requested to have updated information related to presidential salaries.  
      
* Discussion ensued regarding proposed materials that should be provided to the members, including proposed updates to the salary plan. 
      
      Trustee Ehrenberg commented that the focus should not be solely on salary comparisons.   He would also like to see information as it pertains to where people go once they leave the university in order to get a better sense of whether or not people were entice away for monetary reasons, and given the salary structure,  whether there has been any trouble recruiting the types of candidates we want.  
      
      Trustee Warren-Merrick requested background information on current compensation trends in higher education.   
      
      Discussion also ensued that at the upcoming November meeting relevant types of internal and external comparative salary data would be provided.  
      
      Upon motion by Trustee Ehrenberg, seconded by Trustee Warren-Merrick and passed unanimously, meeting was motioned to Executive Session at 3:42 p.m.   No actions were taken in Executive Session.
      
    	 There being no further business, upon motion duly made by Trustee Warren-Merrick, seconded by Trustee Ehrenberg, and passed unanimously, the meeting was adjourned at 4:00 p.m.
