M E M O R A N D U M June 29, 2010 TO: Members of the Board of Trustees FROM: Nancy L. Zimpher, Chancellor SUBJECT: Acquisition of Property (Saratoga) - State University of New York, Empire State College I recommend that the Board of Trustees adopt the following resolution: Whereas it is necessary for the purposes of the State University of New York, Empire State College to acquire real property hereinafter described; now, therefore, be it Resolved that the approximately 1.25 acre parcel of real property situated in the Town of Saratoga Springs, County of Saratoga, New York, owned by The 21 Aletta Street Partnership, as more fully described in the attached map, be purchased for a sum not to exceed $550,000, as established by a proper appraisal and an accurate survey and approval of title to said real property by the Attorney General; and, be it further Resolved that the Chancellor, or designee, be, and hereby is, authorized to execute any and all documents, notices, maps, or any other instruments necessary or appropriate to effect the acquisition of title to and possession of such properties. Background Empire State College requires this property for use as a garage and warehouse facility to support the growing facilities in Saratoga Springs and to alleviate the problems of storing equipment outside at the Union Avenue and West Street locations. The construction of the new administrative building at 2 Union Avenue eliminated a large garage building on the site. The parcel to be acquired contains a 2,800 square foot garage building and a 2,000 square foot mini-storage building. Board Resolution - 2 - May 31, 2007
