M E M O R A N D U M June 29, 2010 TO: Members of the Board of Trustees FROM: Nancy L. Zimpher, Chancellor SUBJECT: Acquisition of Property (Rochester) - State University of New York, Empire State College I recommend that the Board of Trustees adopt the following resolution: Whereas it is necessary for the purposes of the State University of New York, Empire State College to acquire real property hereinafter described; now, therefore, be it Resolved that the 11.192 acre parcel of real property situated in the City of Rochester, County of Monroe, New York, owned by Stephen W. Ross, Donald W. Ross and Susanne R. Aurand, as more fully described in the attached map, be purchased for the sum not to exceed $1,195,000, as established by a proper appraisal and an accurate survey and approval of title to said real property by the Attorney General; and, be it further Resolved that the Chancellor, or designee, be, and hereby is, authorized to execute any and all documents, notices, maps, or any other instruments necessary or appropriate to effect the acquisition of title to and possession of such properties. Background Empire State College requires this land to construct a Regional Center to provide space for administrative and student support services for the entire Genesee Valley Region. The current strategic plan is to replace leased Regional Center facilities with a prototypical 35,000 square foot facility that is designed to establish architectural consistency and enhance the Colleges branding. The proposed building has been funded as SUCF project 40028. A property map showing the subject parcel is attached hereto. Attachment Board Resolution - 2 - May 31, 2007
