SUBJECT:	Awarding of Honorary Degrees



	I recommend that the Board of Trustees adopt the following resolution:

Resolved that the candidates for Honorary Degrees set forth in a listing which has been filed with the Secretary of the University under date of January 19, 2010 be, and hereby are, approved for conferral of such degrees on the dates and at the places specified in the listing, in accordance with the Guidelines for the Awarding of Honorary Degrees, as last amended by Resolution 90-49, dated March 29, 1990.

Background

	At its November 2009 meeting, the Board considered a list of candidates for Honorary Degrees to be conferred in 2010 or 2011.  Having now received acceptances from some of the candidates, it is appropriate for the Board to give formal approval for conferral of the degrees.  As we receive final notification of acceptance from any remaining candidates, we will bring their names before the Board for the formal action necessary to award the degrees.
